‘Boy Meets World’ Star Ben Savage Talks ‘Girl Meets World’ Spinoff
It’s been a while since we’ve had any updates on the Boy Meets World spinoff, but Ben Savage is (sort of) sharing new details. Though Rider Strong aka Cory Matthew’s BFF Shawn Hunter said he wasn’t officially involved with the Girl Meets World pilot, Ben did drop a name of someone he would like to come back. Any guesses?
Ben wants Minkus to reprise his role! If you don’t remember, Minkus was a brainy character, played by Lee Norris, who had a tendency to butt heads with the “cooler” Cory and Shawn. Though Minkus was only around for the first season (and made a special cameo when they graduated high school) Ben told The Hollywood Reporter, “”I’m not sure when he stopped being on the show,” said Savage. “I’m not sure, but I’m definitely in favor of a return of Minkus. Why not?”
As for other potential characters like Mr. Feeny stopping by? Ben said, “We’re going to wait and see what happens. Obviously, I don’t want to give away too many details. But there’s definitely been discussions about some of everyone’s favorite characters popping up in the show and making appearances.”
Ben also reassured potential viewers that they are taking the upcoming Disney Channel pilot very seriously, saying “It’s funny, a lot of the tweets and emails and mentions I’ve gotten are from a lot of people who are worried that the show won’t hold up and that we shouldn’t do it because it’s going to ruin a lot of their childhood memories. We’re really working hard and doing everything we can to make sure that this is going to be something special and funny and hopefully it’ll make new memories for a new generation.”
We can’t wait! Are you excited for the Boy Meets World spinoff? Sound off in the comments!
