ABC has finally realized that quirky and original shows have no place on American television. Pushing Daisies creator and executive producer Bryan Fuller has confirmed that ABC has given the show its walking papers. The critical darling has struggled all season to gain back its audience lost during the writer’s strike, consistently bringing in dismal numbers week after week.
ABC will air the entire thirteen episodes that have been shot, which Fuller has said will end with a cliffhanger. So will fans be left hanging? “We are talking to DC Comics about doing comic books that will wrap up our storylines,” says Fuller. And for those fans not really the comic book type? ”I already have a pitch for a movie ready to go,” Fuller continued.
In addition to Pushing Daisies, ABC has announced they will not be ordering additional episodes for the sophmore shows Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Money, which basically amounts to cancellations. Despite a recent guest starring role by Katie “Mrs. Cruise” Holmes on Eli Stone and lots of sexual exploits on Dirty Sexy Money, both shows have failed to keep their pre-strike ratings and have continued to struggle. It is unclear if ABC will air the remaining episodes of Eli Stone and/or Dirty Sexy Money.
