‘Twilight’ Stars Next Projects

Wed, Dec 3, 2008

Taking advantage of the immense popularity of Twilight, Miramax Films and Regent Releasing have released trailers for the next projects from the film’s young stars.

Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella in the film, will next be seen in the comedy Adventureland.  The film is being directed by Superbad’s Greg Mottola and co-stars Jesse Eisenberg (The Squid and the Whale) as a recent college graduate who takes a job at a local amusement park to pay for his European trip.

Twilight’s
heartthrob “Edward,” aka Robert Pattinson will next star as artist Salvadore Dali in the film Little Ashes from director Paul Morrison.

Both films suspiciously are scheduled to be released on March 27th.  Coincidence or do they both think audiences will be willing to see their new favorite stars on the big screen come Spring?

Justin Timberlake Helps Rihanna With Rehab

Tue, Dec 2, 2008

Pop princess Rihanna has enlisted pop prince Justin Timberlake to help with her latest single “Rehab.”  The video features the two extremely attractive duo looking longingly at each other as their scantily clad bodies glisten in the desert sun.  Though JT is given the ubiquitous “featuring” credit and appears throughout the video, he seems to have contributed very little lyrically toward the song.  Perhaps putting his name on it and appearing in the video is all it takes to guarantee a hit?  What do you think?

Miley Cyrus Behind The Scene in BOLT

Thu, Nov 27, 2008

Miley Cyrus voices the character of Penny in the movie Bolt. The movie also has John Travolta who voices the lead character Bolt.

For those of you who don’t know what Bolt is about, let me give you a brief synopsis:
From Walt Disney Pictures comes an animated comedy adventure featuring a super-dog named BOLT (voice of JOHN TRAVOLTA), whose days are filled with danger and intrigue—at least until the cameras stop rolling. When the star of a hit TV show is accidentally shipped from his Hollywood soundstage to New York City, he begins his biggest adventure yet—a cross-country journey through the real world to get back to his owner and co-star, Penny (voice of MILEY CYRUS). Armed only with the delusions that all his amazing feats and powers are real, and the help of two unlikely traveling companions—a jaded, abandoned housecat named Mittens (voice of SUSIE ESSMAN) and a TV-obsessed hamster named Rhino (voice of MARK WALTON)—Bolt discovers he doesn’t need superpowers to be a hero.

Bolt was in 3rd place last weekend at the box office, but should do just fine over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. It’s main competition is Madagascar 2 but that movie finished 4th last week in the box office.

The vampire movie Twilight has taken the box office by storm with a $35 million opening.  When all is said and done, Twilight could rank in the top 20 biggest openings of all time.  Check out the Twilight trailer here.

Here is a synopsis of the film:

Bella Swan has always been a little bit different, never caring about fitting in with the trendy girls at her Phoenix high school. When her mother re-marries and sends Bella to live with her father in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she doesn’t expect much of anything to change. Then she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen, a boy unlike any she’s ever met. Edward is a vampire, but he doesn’t have fangs and his family is unique in that they choose not to drink human blood. Intelligent and witty, Edward sees straight into Bella’s soul. Soon, they are swept up in a passionate, thrilling and unorthodox romance. To Edward, Bella is what he has waited 90 years for — a soul mate. But the closer they get, the more Edward must struggle to resist the primal pull of her scent, which could send him into an uncontrollable frenzy. But what will Edward & Bella do when a clan of new vampires — James, Laurent and Victoria — come to town and threaten to disrupt their way of life?

24 star Kiefer Sutherland and co-stars Robert Carlyle, Jon Voight, Cherry Jones, Tony Todd, Hakeem Kae-Kazim and Gil Bellows gathered in New York for the world premiere of 24: Redemption, the two-hour television event that bridges the gap between seasons six and seven of the series and is the first new material from the 24 producers in nearly two years.

The two-hour movie will air Sunday, November 23rd at 8:00PM ET/PT on FOX and will be available on a Special Edition “Extended Cut” DVD featuring over 10 minutes of all-new footage on Tuesday, November 25th.

The New Xbox Experience Is Here

Fri, Nov 21, 2008

Microsoft’s has done something with its Xbox 360 that no other game console has ever done before.  They have done a complete overhaul of its operating system via a console update.  The first of the next-gen consoles to be released has been losing market share at a steady pace ever since the release of Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Nintendo’s Wii.  The Wii, in particular, has been the biggest thorn in Microsoft’s goal to dominate the gaming console market.

One of the Wii’s biggest advantages is its motion controlled remote.  Sony had little success trying to compete with Nintendo when it decided to forgo rumbling and added four axis motion control into its controllers.  Microsoft, having released the 360 a year ahead of its competition, was unable to add such technology into its system (which is probably a good thing seeing how the PlayStation 3 hasn’t benefited much from the inclusion).  So what does Microsoft do?  They decided to implement another success from the Wii - avatars.  Nintendo included the ability to create personal avatars they call “Mii’s” into their system to help make the console and games more approachable to non-gamers.  Allowing players to play as their alter-egos in many of their games.  Taking a page from Nintendo’s success, Microsoft implemented a massive overhaul of their system to allow players to create avatars to represent themselves, hopefully attracting non-hardcore gamers to their system.

The update, which is being dubbed the “New Xbox Experience” or “NXE” also includes the ability to share photos with friends and stream Netflix movies.  One feature that was not included at launch is what is being called “Xbox Live Primetime”.  Players will be able to take their doppelganger avatars online and compete against other players in game shows such as 1 vs. 100 for real world prizes.  Xbox Live Primetime is expected to hit 360 systems early next year.

Fri, Nov 21, 2008

Twilight fever is taking over.  The popular series is proned to top every media outlet known to man as it hits theaters this weekend.  The novel, which was originally published in 2005, has been on the New York Times Best Seller list for 65 weeks.  The soundtrack, which features artists like Paramore, Muse, Linkin Park and Collective Soul, debuted at number one on the Billboard Album Chart.

Despite tough competition from Disney’s Bolt and last week’s Quantum of Solace, analysts are predicting the film will bring in around $75 million at the US box office.  So confident is Summit Entertainment with the films success, rumors are spreading that the studio has already begun preparation on two sequels.

Check out Clevver.com for all things Twilight, including the music video for Paramore’s hit single “Decode” from the soundtrack.
