Its finally official, Taylor Lautner will get to keep his job. Taylor will continue to play Jacob in New Moon, the next installment of the Twilight Series. He lobbied real hard and had to fight off several other actors that were trying to win the role. Lets hope he has been eating his wheaties and hitting the gym. He has alot of bulking up to do otherwise they may deduct CGI costs from his paycheck.
The news has been Confirmed by Stephenie Meyer herself in the following blog entry. Team Jacob-Taylor can finally sleep in peace!

Good news about New Moon from director Chris Weitz:
I’m very happy to announce that Taylor Lautner will be playing Jacob Black in New Moon and that he’s doing so with the enthusiastic support of Summit Entertainment, the producers, and Stephenie Meyer.
The characters in Stephenie’s books go through extraordinary changes of circumstance and also appearance; so it is not surprising that there has been speculation about whether the same actor would portray a character who changes in so many surprising ways throughout the series. But it was my first instinct that Taylor was, is, and should be Jacob, and that the books would be best served by the actor who is emotionally right for the part. I think that fans of Twilight the book and the movie will be surprised by the Jacob Black that Taylor will bring to the screen in New Moon; and I’m looking forward to working with him and the rest of the cast in realizing the film.

I’d just like to add that I was very much a part of this decision. My first priority was always what was best for New Moon—what was going to give us the best possible movie. I’m truly thrilled that Taylor was the one who proved to the director, to Summit, and to me that he is the best possible Jacob we could have. And I’m very much looking forward to seeing what he’s going to bring to Jacob’s character this year.

I can understand why they wanted to get a more mature dude for the job
but jacob is just JACOB you cant take the original people becuase they’ll lose fans..
the reason for taylor nearly being replaced is the character in the film CHANGES.. - thats all im saying.

Omg!!! I am so happy that Taylor Lautner is coming back!! I was really mad when I found out that he might not be Jacob in New Moon. As much as I love Twilight, I might not have watched the movie if he wasn’t in it. I mean, he did so awesome in Twilight even though he was hardly in it! And why change someone who was doing so awesome!! The people who put up comments before me were right. You cannot change the characters in a movie!!! Anyway, i’m so glad he’s coming back and I can’t wait to see New Moon!!!! I’ve been watching all these trailers on YouTube and you people make it look so awesome!!!!

(This will be strange for i am a guy(lol)and it is oficial more girls are addicted and thirsty for Twilight then males) i am very excited to finally hear the end of this dispute and thrilled to watch every movie when i heard that they might have different casts members i blew up (imaginary) and had to find out for myself…if they ever have new casts members to replace others i sadly say that i will no longer thirst for more twilight than the stage i am in now hehe TEAM EDWARD!

Great Because…
I Hate When There Is a Series Of Movies That They Change The Actor. Like For Example Terminator Series: Arnold Schwarzenegger He Is Not Going To Be The Four Terminator. I Think They Should Keep Taylor As Jacob. And Like In The Video Kristen Stewart Wants To Be Of It They Are Going To Take Of Taylor. And Bella Is One Of The Most Important Actors In The Movie.

im absolutely thrilled that finally the director of new moon did the smart thing and cast taylor as jacob black. if im honest there shouldnt have ever been any doubt. i knew stephanie meyer would come through as i myself see him as jacob in every way, the same way she seemed to. as to someone saying that jacob is supposed to look thirty, that’s laughable, he doesn’t AGE in the book unless he stops being a wolf for a long period of time when he changes he is seventeen years old if that so that clearly doesn’t make sense.
some people need to open their eyes alittle bit more to how films are made and realise the fact that taylor looks young effects nothing as the wolf boy doesn’t age and when his a wolf no one is going to see his baby face as he will be looking like A WOLF not a human!

taylor is going to bulk up and cut his hair for part of it. trust me, he will be just fine. Continuity is important. Computer graphics can make taylor appear older with lighting. You do know they made an entire ship out of computer graphics for pirates of the carribean. Trust me, aging someone is simple.

i am reallly dissapointed with the choice of taylor for the role of jacob. he shouldnt of got it. i agree with Alison 100%. I know jacob is sapost to look kinda young but taylor looks TOO YOUNG!! everyone does say “but hes such a great actor”! idc hes too young.

I am so relieved. I absolutly despise it when actors are changed in the middle of the series. Taylor is as good as it can get because no one out there is perfect but isn’t that what computer graphica are for. He can be made to look taller just by wearing the right kinds of clothing. Thank you Chris Weitz and Stephenie Meyer for keeping him.

im seriously disappointed they chose Taylor Lautner to play Jacob in New Moon. He seriously is not fit for the roll. Jacob is supposed to look about thirty. Taylor Lautner looks so much younger than Bella in Twilight, which is a good thing, because he was supposed to. In New Moon though, he just doesn’t fit. Probably all the people that are Taylor Lautner fans are also twilight fans. its not like some twilight fans are not going to see the sequel just because Taylor was replaced with an actor with equal skills, AND looks like Jacob. EVeryone always says “yeahh but Taylor was a great actor!” yeah, well so are the other fifty guys that auditioned for Jacob. He better be amazing because i have extremely high standards for him.
