Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are all set to reprise their roles as Bella and Edward, but the latest buzz is that Taylor Lautner may not return as Jacob. Apperantly the new director, Chris Weitz wants a more physically mature Jacob. Although 16 year old Taylor Lautner has been pushing for a return, he has yet to be given the green light. Just recently MTV has reported that Michael Copon, 26 is already in talks to take over the highly sought after role of Jacob.

In my opinion if they got rid of Taylor or anyone else who plays any of the other characters i can tell you right now that i would not watch the second movie i wouldnt buy it i would just stick with the books, and i am not the only one who feels this way. its wrong to fix whats not broken and in my opinion everyone who was casted for there parts are the best choices for those roles it would never work with any other people.

I’m glad to hear Taylor has kept his job as Jacob (for now); however, don’t keep him on the contingency that he “get buffed.” Keep him because not only is he an excellent actor but it keeps the role real in that he looks native american. The possible actor they had to replace is about as white as Casper the ghost. Keep it real please! Or it doesn’t come across to the audience as acceptable. I would also like to add that no where in the book does Stephanie Meyer describe Jacob Black as hot or in any comparison to Edwards’s looks, unlike some superficial people, Bella was drawn to Jacob through his character, warm and affectionate like the young Jacob Black portrayed in twilight. This part of his character doesn’t disappear in breaking down or new moon, therefore Taylor Lautner is the perfect casting choice yet again, it won’t be hard at all for him to act arrogant or be editted to look like a werewolf.

I think the director of twilight was a genius every character she picked was perfect, as if she had written the books herself.
I’m a huge fan of the whole series and believe that none of the characters should changed at all. Why change perfection? Everyone here seems to forget that it’s a movie, digital editting can be used to make Jacob more muscular and werewolf like. There is no actor that could exactly match the physical description of Jacob Black that Stephanie Meyer created, it’s just not possible. The new director should be focusing on casting the human jacob. The perfect actor for this always has been and always will be Taylor, with his long hair and short hair he appears both childlike and wolflike. At first glance in the movie twilight (before I’d read the books) I thought to myself he looks wolflike. Now that to me shows what a good casting choice was made there. Read the books people bella’s ‘my jacob’ as she calls him fits the face and character that taylor lautner portrays. Michael Copon although a great actor and fitting for the ‘arrogant’ side of human jacob,could never act the gentle side of human jacob as perfectly as Taylor. He would appear arrogant when his not supposed, that’s just him. I think the director of new moon should be spending more time making the movie as brilliant if not better than the first instead of wasting time trying to change what was already a good decision made by the director of twilight.
I will be greatly disapppointed and shocked if Taylor is not chosen to continue his role as Jacob.

I think that “near perfect” image that was formed in the book would be next to impossible to recreate in reality because each person has his or her own perception of Edward. In my opinion I think that Robert Pattinson was a great choice and I really can’t picture any other 20 something actor playing the part as well as Robert did. Nearly everyone is saying to keep Taylor as Jacob.
He’s already been in twilight so changing the cast will just ruin all the other films.
And most people like Taylor as Jacob. He looks bulked up a bit anyways and he definetely suits Jacob.
Plus a lot of girls I know including me are fans of him. (He’s hot…)
And I swear do not put in Vanessa Hudgens as Leah. I hate her and she’s gonna ruin the whole film.
I haven’t thought about the girl from Ugly Betty playing Emily because i’ve just heard about.
She’ll be ok as Emily as long as they don’t make her look geeky like she does in Ugly Betty.

Taylor is absolutely adorable, but he cannot pull it off. No Way! The movie would probably still be good, but lacking. Stephanie M. wrote the character Jacob with Steven in mind.
Maybe the problem is that Steven would be a little too good in the part.

I think they should both be in the New Moon movie. With a little bit of work they could look very simlar, after all in the book Jacob goes through changes and ends up looking really different. Sure Tyler is awesome and everything to be Jacob, but he really dosn’t have the body for the rest of the movies, he could manage some of the movie of course before his transformation/growth spurt. During his transformation they would only need to pay a little bit of money changing him to look more body-built until Micheal takes over. Instead of paying heaps of cash to make him look really built up. People also shouldn’t worry about the age difference, when Jacob hits his growth spurt, he does after all look around 25. I’m sure they can manage Michael to look younger, they did, after all, make Robert Pattinson about 4 years younger. Tyler is very cute to be Jacob and we would all love to see him continue but I’m not sure how he would manage the more mature Jacob. He is just to sweet looking to stay the way he is.

Taylor is a great Jacob, and he has great chemistry with Kristen, and there is great tension between him and Robert. The stare down at the end of Twilight was awesome. And changing the character is always a terrible idea. So just keep Taylor. But I will admit Michael is pretty hot.

i think that taylor should get the part back as jacob. he is so calm and nice about the whole problem anyway plus he is working really hard to get more muscular sure he isnt tall but so what he earned the spot in the first one and he deserves it for the rest too. taylor lautner is gorgeous and if you look at the pictures of him where he is in full make up and hair he looks older but really in the books he gets stopped in age at what 16 17? i mean really why would you want someone older than like 23 playing a 16 17 year old?? that is gross. i think taylor has earned the part and if you are a true twilight fan then you will support the original directors decision to cast him and support him to be jacob in the next three movies. taylor lautner for jacob all the way!!!

Taylor May be the best Jacob black for Twilight but not for the rest Jacob changes completely in New Moon. Think about it. Instead of wasting money on making Taylor look totally different they can just get someone different to play Jacob, like they are doing. It was obvious from the start that they would use a new actor for NewMoon, Eclipse and breaking dawn, its just common sense. If people aren’t going to watch NewMoon just because Taylor isnt going to be in it, well than your not true TWILIGHT fans your TAYLOR LAUTNER fans. If your not going to watch it just because they are switching Taylor than dont! There will be more Movie tickets for the real twilight fans. Um, did ya’ll who want Lautner still in read the books at all? Jacob gets TALL. Really TALL and built like a brick *fill in the blank* house. Lautner is fine for young, pre-transformation Jacob, but unfortunately he is too small and not muscular enough for werewolf Jacob. Sorry. Jacob completely changes in the book, so it only makes sense to change Jacob for the movie. What they should do is have Lautner play Jacob before the change, post Edward’s departure, and then have the taller, more svelt guy play Jacob after his metamorphosis. Then everyone is happy and it stays true to the book more. Especially since they are already planning on totally changing the book to have Robert Pattinson physically be in the movie more. I hate when they do that. They can have the voice over when Bella is about do something dangerous, dream scenes with her grandmother and halucination in the water after the cliffdive, and then birthday scene, the departure, the Volturri scenes, not to mention the final reunion scene (10 scenes right there). There really is no need to increase the actual screen time. Not that I don’t like him, just I prefer them to keep to the book as much as possible. New Moon got the biggest emotional response out of me and I would hate to see that lost because of pandering to hormonally charged females. There is plenty of “swoon” time already in the book, no need to adjust it. Just my 2 cents.

look, I know all you guys love the original cast of twilight. But go back a few months, you hated them all. I went into the movie theater prepared to love the movie no matter what, pretending that I have never even read the books. I walked out loving it, taking six othes to see it, ranging in ages from 9 to 16, boys ad girls ( none of them had read any of the books) and they loved it also. They have all become obsessed with the phenomenon that is Stephanie Myers Twilight saga. There are a great many actors that I could have personally chosen to play the parts that we have come to love so dear, but it wasnt up to us. Maybe if it had been a public vote we could have chosen a much more suitable cast. I know what my Edward and Bella and Jacob and Jasper and Esme and Carlisle and Rosalie looked liked. And maybe if they had used more seasoned actors they would not be having the trouble that they are having now, with pot smoking, love triangles, drinking. They could have picked actors that were more comfortable with the fame part of things, that could have handled it a lot better. But as us absolute fans of the books knew, the people who were chosen to play the cast of twilight, well they were not the best choice to make

okay, i have to really laugh at u gys b/c it would be such a waste of money to use technology to make taylor look older and buffer, why not use the money to better places film the italy scenes. duh!! come on it’s not like u will loose more fans of twilight if taylor is replaced b/c u will gain more people that will love jacob if Steven Strait is the new jacob, he is older, buffer and hotter. Also he can totally pull off the new mature and older jacob, so much better than taylor, he is too young and doesn’t give the mature appeal that jacob gives in the later books. most people went to the movie to see great looking guys anyway and steven is way hotter than taylor. also us older people, that are 20, won’t feel like pedafiles when we think taylor is a cutie b/c he is only 16. like others have said before, its not like he was inthe whole movie and its not like u’ll miss hom in the new movie. plus stephanie said that steven was the perfect jacob but he is more of the new moon jacob so it would make more sense to switch.

I’m getting too many laughs at all these posts. Taylor played a total of maybe ten minutes of acting in Twilight I just don’t get it. DON’T GET RID OF TAYLOR FOR MICHAEL!!!!!!!! If you get rid of Taylor for this other guy, really many people are gonna lose interest in the movie. Personally, I hate it when they change characters in a movie, and especially if it happens to twilight. Keep Taylor, he’ll buff out and you can use special effects to make him taller. Not too difficult now is it?

i like taylor but the moment that i saw him, i knew that he was not going to be big enough to play jacob. in the next three books, jacob is described as tall and big and taylor really is just not there yet but i still want him to play jacob cause he was there from the beginning.

Copon doesn’t look native american! I liked Lautner, but it would be ok with me if they got someone else who at least looked the part. Lautner would be great if he could beef up a little, look more powerful etc. This copon guy doesn’t seem right though.

Okay, so Taylor doesn’t really know how to act, but his dark hair and dark skin totally match his description for Twilight. However, he’s not muscular or tall and graphics costs money… Therefore I’m totally okay with the idea of casting steven strait. Except he needs to hit the tanning salons. lol I’m sorry Taylor, but the acting was just way too Disney. And Michael Copon does not fit the description at all. Plus, Steven Strait is way cuter and more manly looking that Michael and Taylor.

Michael Copon is the worst actor for this role. He is way too arrogant and cocky. Fans already hate him so I don’t think it is very smart to cast him. Personally, I’d want Taylor to stay but if they HAD to recast… Steven Strait would be great.
He was Stephenie Meyer’s choice anyway.
But, again, Taylor is perfect for this Jacob role no matter how small he is to portray Jacob the shapeshifter in New Moon. Hopefully, they can get better special effects even though their budget is still sort of tight for this project. Obviously, all due to raised paychecks and a possible trip to Europe for the Italy/Volturi scenes.
But we’re hopeful! Fingers crossed everyone!

i adore taylor, but if i want the movie to be true to the book then he should be replace. he was perfect as the young jacob but way to short and young for the annoying mature looking and taller jacob character. suggestion will be to re-cast him as the adorable, smart & kind hearted “seth clearwater”. also bella kept on repeating that seth reminds her of young jacob.

OKAY whoever is making this decision is SO WRONG. Even if Taylor isn’t right for Jacob… Michael has no business doing the role either. He just doesn’t have the right look… he’s not intense enough. If they’re really trying to look for an older Jacob why haven’t they looked into Steven Strait. HE WOULD BE PERFECT.
