Michael Sheen has been successfully genre-hopping between Oscar movies (Frost/Nixon, The Queen) and fantasy movies (the Underworld series) for a few years now, and it looks like that’s not going to let up anytime soon: he just signed onto the Twilight sequel New Moon as Aro, a leader of the Volturi vampire coven.
New Moon director Chris Weitz apparently campaigned hard for Sheen to accept the role. He joins Dakota Fanning (Jane) and Jamie Campbell Bower (Caius) as a Volturi member, as well as series stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner.

I am happy he is playing Aro. Um, that ” kid” is Ben Barnes. And he is like, twenty something. They sooo did not replace jacob.

OMG… thank God for small miricals because last I heard Aro was going to be played by the KID who played Prince Caspian and that would suck about as much as replacing Jacob. I mean Aro is or I see him as a 35+ year old guy and Sheen holds the look wonderfully! He’s the perfect cast!
