The poster and first trailer for Public Enemies just came out, and it’s hard not to call them anything less than spectacular. Okay, sure, the poster is a pretty straightforward shot of Johnny Depp in costume as gangster John Dillinger, but since when does a big image of Johnny Depp not work?
I’d be very curious to know whether or not the decision to make Johnny Depp the sole above-the-title cast member — and only include Christian Bale (who plays Melvin Purvis, the guy hunting him down) in smaller print underneath him — was a result of Bale’s recent trouble. Because everything we’ve heard about the project so far seemed to suggest Depp and Bale were co-headliners.
