2012, the latest big-budget disaster movie from Roland Emmerich (The Day After Tomorrow, Independence Day) has been bumped from its July 10th release to November 13th.
The move was done after Sony decided they had a particularly strong summer slate (including Angels & Demons, the Jack Black/Michael Cera comedy The Year One, and the Denzel Washington/John Travolta thriller remake The Taking of Pelham 123) and wanted to stick a tentpole in the pre-Thanksgiving spot usually reserved for James Bond movies. It’ll now have to go up against Robert Downey Jr. in Sherlock Holmes and Dwayne Johnson in Tooth Fairy.
