It’s a dark day when cheesy franchise from almost ten years ago suddenly get new life on the studio circuit, especially when the property in question is Charlie’s Angels.
Apparently, the fact that the last one of these hit theatres six years ago, and the franchise itself got its start almost TEN years ago, isn’t stopping Drew Barrymore and producing partner Nancy Juvonen from taking a crack at Angels Three. Concepts include adding a fourth angel, and offering Cameron Diaz sufficient cash to get her to forget that falling out she and Barrymore had long enough to come back. It’s not a surprise, though. Considering what she’s been in lately–a recurring role on Family Guy as hot moron supreme Jillian, a voice bit on Beverly Hills Chihuahua and a part in He’s Just Not That Into You–you can’t blame her for wanting something that’ll pay slightly better than the shiny rocks and sticks she’s getting right now.
I cringe, folks…I cringe for the fate of the studios that think this is a good idea.
