BLACKPINK’s Jennie is Reportedly Making Her Solo Debut This Year

By  |

Okay, so we know there aren’t many months left of 2018, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a ton to look forward to before the year ends — especially when it comes to music. In the next few months, for example, Ariana Grande and Little Mix are both planning on dropping new albums, but do you know who else is plotting to release new music? Jennie from the popular K-pop girl group BLACKPINK!

That’s right, you guys! YG Entertainment, the company that formed BLACKPINK, just announced that the 22-year-old rapper and singer will be making her solo debut in the next few months. In fact, the original report says that her solo album may arrive as soon as November! According to YG, “Jennie is in the final stages of preparation for her first solo promotions aimed to be within the year.” AHH!

But wait… there’s more! Yang Hyun-suk of YG Entertainment also confirmed that Jennie will not be the only member of BLACKPINK to go solo. He said, “We are simultaneously working on new BLACKPINK songs as well as solo projects for all four members at the moment. Jennie’s solo will be the first one to be released, to be followed by RosΓ©’s solo. The biggest strength of BLACKPINK is that each member’s ability/talent as a solo artist is as strong as their teamwork/cohesiveness.” Wow, fam! There’s so much to look forward to!

At the moment, there still isn’t much info about the solo projects of the other BLACKPINK members, but that’s okay because we’re still reeling over the news of Jennie! We don’t know about you, but we couldn’t be more curious about her solo sound. However, if it’s anything like the group’s record-setting singles “Whistle” and “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” it’s clear that we have absolutely nothing to worry about. Congratulations, Jennie!
