11 Recent YA Books by Authors of Color in Honor of Black History Month
If you aren’t aware that we’re currently in the middle of Black History Month, it’s time to get with the program! Even though this is technically something that we should be doing all year long, February is the time to celebrate the achievements of black entertainers, writers, inventors, politicians, activists, etc. — but we want to focus on writers right now. More specifically, writers of color who have recently released awesome YA books.
So why not honor these talented men and women NOW by giving their novel a read? Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon may be the only you’ve heard of, since it’s already been made into a movie, or Angie Thomas‘ The Hate U Give because it’s being developed into one ATM, but that shouldn’t stop you from giving all the others a try. Each of them is helping bring more representation to the young adult genre, which we couldn’t be more excited about. Let’s celebrate them!
