Playlist Of The Week: The 10 Best Remixes Of 2011 (Vids)
That’s what we love about remixes. Artists you never thought would work together (cough, Lil Wayne and Joe Jonas, cough) do and somehow make it work. Plus, a remix makes a slow, depressing song actually danceable. So we dug deep and found 10 totally amazing remixes from the past year that you just have to hear. Or, ya know, hear again.
Check out our picks below!
1. “Till the World Ends” – Britney Spears (ft. Ke$ha and Nicki Minaj)
Talk about a triple threat. Like we said, this song is the reason we love remixes. Why haven’t these three chicks been recording songs together all along?! And sidenote: doesn’t Ke$ha sort of remind you of a young Britney, sans shower?
2. “Love You Like a Love Song” – Selena Gomez & the Scene (DJ Reidiculous)
This song was made to be remixed. This sexified version is fun, flirty and sorta makes you feel like you’re in a European dance club.
3. “Someone Like You” – Adele (The Thin Red Men Remix)
As much as we loveeeee Adele’s latest hit, it’s not exactly the best track to dance to. Actually, we just feel like crying our eyes out every time we hear it (SNL thinks so too). But this remix transforms her power ballad into a great dance number with kickass vocals.
4. “Moves Like Jagger” – Maroon 5 ft. Christina Aguilera (Eos Dubstep Remix)
Adam Levine’s whistling + Christina’s belting has never inspired this much hip shaking before, right? And plus, the kid who remixed this number is apparently only 15, which makes us feel super bad about ourselves. Awesome.
5. “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” – Katy Perry (ft. Missy Elliot)
It’s not that we don’t love KP, but Missy just adds a bit of much-needed edge to this tune. We’re thinking the rapper should add her two cents to just about every bubbly pop song out there, too (Biebs!).
6. “Edge of Glory” – Lady Gaga (Sultan & Ned Shepard Remix)
EPIC. That’s really the only way to describe this almost 7-minute Gaga remix. It’s basically a rollercoaster of everything that’s good about music. The amazingness starts at about a minute in.
7. “Mistletoe” – Justin Bieber (Romeo)
We’re sorta partial to Justin’s original, but props to Romeo for trying. Our fave part? “I could be your Romeo under the mistletoe,” he croons, before the Biebs comes back with the chorus. At least Romeo gets an A+ for his rhyming skillz!
8. “Run The World (Girls)” – Beyonce (Jochen Simms Club Remix)
We just wanna RAGE all night long to this track. This rendition maintains the beat of the original Beyonce song, while adding the perfect amount of flavor.
9. “Just in Love” – Joe Jonas (ft. Lil Wayne)
Please don’t hate us, but we kinda like Lil Wayne’s version way more than the original. Sorry, but Weezy is so so much cooler than this JoBro in so so many ways.
10. “Mr. Know It All” – Kelly Clarkson (Lenno Remix)
The best thing about this version of Kelly’s jam is that it’s not clubby at all. Sure, remixes were made to dance to, but this one? We just feel like dancing in our PJS with our BFFs.
Did you like our picks? Which remix was your fave? What was your fave remix of 2011 so far? Be honest!
