The 23 Most Bad-Ass Feminist Moments of 2015
As you probably already know, I’ve been writing quite a lot about why feminism is not perfect. It generally disregards the fact that women from different backgrounds face different forms of oppression, and it also creates unrealistic expectations for girls. But despite that, I have to admit that this has been a pretty kick ass year for feminism overall.
This year, we saw so many powerful moments, from Viola Davis‘ amazing acceptance speech at the Emmys and the famous #AskHerMore hashtag to Emma Watson‘s powerful interview with Malala about girls and feminism. We even saw how celebrities like Zendaya and Ariana Grande shut down some of the most sexist trolls on social media with the best feminist responses ever. I don’t know about you, but I’d say that feminism is making huge strides when it comes to inspiring young girls and women.
