Bella Hadid Totally Saved Gigi’s Butt on the Glamour WOTY Awards Red Carpet

Supermodel Gigi Hadid has managed to take the fashion industry by storm in just three short years. She made her New York Fashion Week debut in 2014, and has since walked the runway for some of the biggest names in fashion, graced numerous covers of Vogue, co-designed a successful capsule collection with Tommy Hilfiger, and just recently released a makeup line with Maybelline. This week, Glamour named the 22-year-old beauty its Woman of The Year, and we can’t help but admire the fact that Gigi truly does have it all.

Last night’s Glamour Women of the Year Awards ceremony took place at The Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, and Serena Williams presented Gigi with her award with a heartfelt speech. Serena said in her presentation speech, “Gigi, you are one of the few people on this planet I would leave my baby for — for one night — but for you, it shows how much you mean to me. And I want you to imagine the effect you have on the world.”

Gigi then accepted the award and spent the first half of her speech thanking the numerous people who have helped her get to where she is today, as well as including a very sweet message to both of her parents. The supermodel then shared a special message for all the young women watching, that is so relatable you will actually feel like you’ve known Gigi for years: “I want to let you know that just because I’m standing here, winning this award, doesn’t mean that I have it all figured out. I’m so grateful for every opportunity, but that doesn’t mean that I wake up feeling like the Gigi that the world expects me to be on a daily basis… If you don’t feel strong every day, that’s okay, and it’s normal. Every day, something new can inspire you, and a small thought or idea or action can change the course of your day, your week, your month, your year. You’re never alone, and you’re never stuck, no matter how down you feel.”

Gigi ended her speech by telling women that they’re stronger by celebrating each other. Preach, Gigi, preach! And as if that speech didn’t make us to relate to her on levels we never knew we could, Gigi almost tripped on the way to the ceremony earlier in the day, when she got her foot caught in her long gown. Thankfully, she had sister Bella Hadid by her side to hold her up. Talk about a great metaphor for the occasion, right?!
