Ariana Grande Warned Exes Before Dropping New Song, “Thank U, Next”
Ariana Grande is keeping her promise of releasing ANOTHER new album before the end of the year, and the first song of that record is a certified BOP called “Thank U, Next.” You may think the tune is a diss track, given the timing of its release, but in reality it’s all about self-love and appreciating the things you go through in life, both good and bad.
Perhaps the most shocking portion of the tune comes right off the bat, with the 25-year-old singer name-dropping her exes, Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez Mac Miller and Pete Davidson, in the very first verse.
But he wasn’t a match
Wrote some songs about Ricky
Now I listen and laugh
Even almost got married
And for Pete, I’m so thankful
Wish I could say, “Thank you” to Malcolm
‘Cause he was an angel”
Talking about a past relationship in a song is something that musicians do all the time, but actually naming an ex is much more rare and even slightly taboo. But Ariana made sure that her former boyfriends didn’t feel blindsided by the lyrics and actually sent them the song prior to its release.
they heard it before it came out 🖤 🙂
