We got talented Hollywood makeup artist, Holly Eve Landfield (who works on gorgeousifying the faces of celebrities like Jasmine V. and Betsey Johnson‘s models) to dish just how to copy cat Amber’s gorgeous smoky eye!
After you’ve applied your shade of foundation and concealer, start by using a fluffy eye shadow brush like M.A.C.’s 222 brush ($29) to blend a high pigmented silver over the entire eyelid, Forgery by M.A.C. ($14.50) is the perfect silver for this. Then, using another fluffy brush (or you can clean the last one), blend a midnight black shadow into the crease of your eyelid. If you’re a first timer, layer it on lightly and swish back and forth with light strokes. The key is to really blend the black into the crease to prevent the look from going too dark. Then with another fresh brush, apply a taupe matte eye shadow above the eyelid and just under the brow area. Blend in with the silver and black.
Once your color is done, you can work on your lashes. With a touch of glue, apply half eyelashes along the outer edge of each eye to create the wing look. Once the lashes are on and dry, use a small angled eyeliner brush to apply a thin line of Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Gel Liner in Black Ink ($21) into the lash line. Line the bottom of the eye, just inside the water line with a jet black pencil and then apply two coats of mascara. Use a clean brush to pick up any of the fallen eyeshadow under your eye and reapply concealer for a clean look.
The smoky eye’s a lot of work, but luckily, the rest of your face is a cinch. Sweep Smashbox’s Gingersnap Blush across the cheeks to achieve the rosy bronze look. To finish off the look, apply Lancome’s Juicy Tube Shimmer for a glossy nude lip.
