7 Big-Name Actors Who Were Close to Landing a Role in Alice in Wonderland
After what feels like an ETERNITY of waiting, the sequel to Tim Burton’s hit film Alice in Wonderland is almost here! And while everyone is talking about Alice Through the Looking (which hits theaters on May 27th), we want to take a moment to reflect on the 2010 movie that we’re still pretty much obsessed with.
NGL, it’s incredibly hard to picture anyone other than Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska, Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway starring in the flick — they were just SO perfect for their roles, ya know? — but it definitely took the director quite some time and a good amount of effort to find his perfect cast. And in addition to there being HUNDREDS of big-name stars at his disposal for any of his movies, many celebs were already fans of Lewis Carroll’s classic novel and weren’t shy in letting him know they wanted to be a part of it. As it turns out, the stranger was one of the movie's producers, and she watched and "loved" the audition tape that Cara had sent in (assumedly for Alice). Eventually, the blonde went to director Tim Burton's house and although she "didn't get the part," the "experience lit a fire" in her to continue going after a career on screen.
