8 Actresses Who Were Considered to Play Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse
Lots of actors and actresses auditioned for the X-Men movies, but either didn’t make the cut or turned down the role. Unfortunately for them, the films have been wildly successful, making tons of money and propelling stars who did get the gig to A-list fame. Those who weren’t in the final cuts are, at this point, probably pretty bummed that they didn’t go all the way.
The Marvel team considered multiple celebrities for each role in the movie franchise, most notably Wolverine — sources say that more than nine actors auditioned before Hugh Jackman finally landed it. But what about all the other characters? Well, we have confirmation that almost the same amount of women were considered to play Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse, but it was Sophie Turner who ultimately came out on top. Singer Hailee Steinfeld was also considered for the role of Jean Grey. The directors were really looking for a young actress for the films, because they wanted to portray a younger version of Famke Janssen's character. Unfortunately, the "Most Girls" crooner didn't make it to the end of the casting process.
