6 Actors Who Actually Turned Down Roles on Game of Thrones
We love Game of Thrones as much as just about everyone else in the galaxy right now. It’s the perfect combination of action, sci-fi and a little bit of romance. It has created a whole new level of fandom and has brought together millions of fans across the world, including some of its own cast members.
Sometimes we have to remind ourselves that Kit Harington really isn’t Jon Snow and that Emilia Clarke doesn’t tame a bunch of dragons in her free time. The actors are so perfect for their roles that it’s next to impossible to imagine anyone but them playing the part. Our fave characters could have been completely different if other actors didn’t originally turn down the part. Check out our gallery to see which celebs rejected the role that could have completely changed their career:
Gillian Anderson, who is best known for being Dana Scully on The X-Files, allegedly turned down the opportunity to be Cersei Lannister. Although her 18-year-old daughter was distraught that her mom said no to being on a show she loves, Gillian said that she "couldn't justify being away from my 4 and 6-year-old for that long." We love Lena Headey, but we think that Gillian would have been an amazing queen, too.
