8 Actors Who Still Got the Part Even After Majorly Failing the Audition
It’s crazy to think that every star we love today has gone through their fair share of auditions before getting there. And that some of our favorite actors aren’t completely immune to the dilemma of an embarrassing audition. But despite how mortifying — and currently hysterical — their stories might be, believe-it-or-not, they haven’t all ended up badly!
Even if these actors didn’t end up getting the role they originally went out for, they still managed to triumph over all of the audition room humiliation. Can you even imagine The Maze Runner without Dylan O’Brien?! Or Thor without Chris Hemsworth?! We can’t either! And it seems like these casting directors couldn’t imagine their casting going any other way — even if their audition situations were epic fails:
AUDITION: The Maze Runner
No matter how talented Dylan was in his audition, there was one thing that almost cost him the job: His hair! "I didn't hear back for like a month and a half, because Wes [Ball] was like, 'His hair is too MTV!' That's what he thought, which was so funny," he told The Collider, "then he saw a picture of me with more regular hair, the buzzcut or something from Teen Wolf, and he brought me back and it worked." Dylan's also shared during further press for the first Maze Runner film, that he "was coming off work, I had hair and make-up [from Teen Wolf] and I was, like, 'Oh, this is going to be great,' yet it turned off the director. Things are funny like that." We guess you should really pay attention to your hair if you're going in to an audition. But, hey! It didn't cost him the role!
