5 Seconds of Summer Drops New Song “Want You Back” and Announces Tour

Hate to say we told you so, but we told you so! 5 Seconds of Summer teased new music last week and the moment fans have been waiting ~two years for is finally here! The Australian band dropped their first single, “Want You Back,” last night and as if that wasn’t exciting enough, the boys also announced a world tour.

“We have taken a lot of inspiration from bands like The Cars, The 1975, St. Lucia and a massive influence sonically from the Ghost Stories album by Coldplay,” Ashton Irwin told fans.

The new tune is definitely a departure from the boys’ early sound, which had a much more pop-punk vibe. But even though it’s different and more mature, it’s still FREAKIN’ AMAZING!

“No matter where I go, I’m always gonna want you back / No matter how long you’re gone, I’m always gonna want you back,” Luke Hemmings croons in the song’s catchy AF chorus.

While the news of 5SOS’ new song is obviously exciting as it is, the guys are gonna be hitting the road in, like, a MONTH to embark on a 26-date world tour.

“Finally… It’s been 3 years since our last album and we are so ready to share new music with the world,” Ashton, Luke, Michael Clifford and Calum Hood said in a statement. “After spending the last 5 years on the road since the age of 16, it was important we took time to reflect as individuals and now we’re coming back stronger and more unified than ever. These songs mean the world to us and we have held nothing back in writing and recording this album. We’ve been rehearsing a lot of the new songs live and can’t wait to get back out on tour to connect with our incredible fans.”

The tour kicks off on March 20 in Stockholm, Sweden, and ends on June 6 in Sao Paolo, Brazil. You can get all the details on how to purchase tickets by clicking here and here if you want to download the song.
