13 Reasons Why Actor Arrested for Stealing from Elderly People
The main cast of 13 Reasons Why has a lot to celebrate. Season 2 recently wrapped up, Katherine Langford was nominated for a Golden Globe for her leading role in the production, heck, one of ’em is even dating Sam Smith! However, the not-so-main cast of the Netflix series isn’t doing so hot.
In October, Uriah Shelton, who played Pratters on two episodes of the show, was hit with a restraining order for alleged assault. (He reportedly kicked a girl in the stomach!) Now, another background actor, Bryan Box, is making headlines for doing some damage of his own… so much so, that he landed himself behind bars.
The young star, who portrayed Jamie Garrison on nine episodes of the drama, was arrested last week and charged with nine felony counts of burglary, possession of stolen property and theft by a caretaker of an elder.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, BB was linked to six burglaries in total. “Jewelry, medications, a laptop, Social Security card and checks were among the items taken from the residences. One of these burglaries added up to a total of $50,000 in items missing.”
What makes this story even worse is that Bryan supposedly knew all the victims. “Box would visit his former employers to discuss his new acting career, including locally filmed 13 Reasons Why, and offered the residents small gifts or kind comments before stealing from them,” reports Us Weekly. The alleged victims are in their 70s, 80s and 90s. Awful!
Upon learning of the alleged crimes, police obtained a search warrant for the actor’s residence and vehicle. The search is said to have yielded the stolen property, as well as other incriminating evidence.
A local pawn shop also held items taken by Bryan. The pawn shop manager “immediately recalled his recent interactions with defendant,” the prosecution affidavit says. “(The manager) was able to physically describe defendant and knew about his recent notoriety from the television show 13 Reasons Why. Defendant allegedly told (the manager) he had come into possession of a lot of jewelry due to the recent death of an aunt.”
